Welcome to a relaxed introduction to drag king makeup with seasoned drag king and facilitator, Len Blanco. Len will cover the basics of making a face look 'masculine' with you and encourage your more colourful and creative leanings too. Got a character you're itching to bring to life? Bring them. Got zero clue but want to explore? Hop in, baby. This is a workshop for folks in the early stages of exploring drag kinging and also for those who just want to dip a toe in and see how damn fine the water is.

This workshop requires participants to have access to some basic bits of makeup, such as foundation, eyeliner, contouring makeup (or foundations in a darker and lighter shade than your skin tone) and eye shadow. If you have any questions about or barriers to getting this, drop us a line and we'll see how we can help!

We will be sending out a document to ticket holders outlining what makeup to gather for the workshop.

When: Thursday 8 April, 7pm - 8:15pm.

Where: Online, Zoom

Who: Sappho Events welcomes LGBTQ women and non-binary people.

Cost: £10 per person

Testimonials:

"If you're curious about your inner drag king potential then I would highly recommend a make up tutorial with Len Blanco. The session helped guide me through drag king make up techniques, but more importantly made me think about the wider drag community and my own queerness as a mother of two. Len is super supportive, fun and the session was a really sensitively handled. I encourage anyone to have a go!" Kathryn Ashill, artist.

"I booked Len for a Drag King workshop as a treat to perk me up from the lockdown blues and OH. MY. GOD. it was so much fun! I laughed so much my cheeks hurt. I’m a long time drag fan but self confessed nervous newb, but Len was so welcoming and did all they could to make sure the workshop felt like a safe space, I felt instantly supported and encouraged. Len tailored the workshop to my needs so I could learn the tricks of the trade and experiment with ideas and get the most out of the hour we had together. I’m definitely going to continue playing with drag! I honestly can’t recommend them enough." Kim Scopes, theatremaker.
