Queer Book Club - October + meet the author (In Person, London)

Calling all queer book-lovers - join us for an evening of sapphic bookish chats!

Every month, we will be reading a new piece of sapphic literature and coming together at @glasshouselondon to discuss over a cuppa or mocktail with the Sappho Events community.

This October, to celebrate Black History Month, we have chosen Andreena Leeanne's poetry book, “CHARRED”, and we are lucky enough to have Andreena join us for the conversation, including a performance from her book. Come prepped with your burning questions!

Our friends at the Common Counter Press at Glass House will be kindly stocking copies for you to purchase ahead of the book club meeting. Tell them you’re buying the book for Sappho’s book club and you’ll receive a 10% discount. If you can't physically pick it up, they can post it to you (+ £2.80 for postage) by emailing books@glasshouse.london.

Date: Monday 24 October, 7-8pm

Location: The Common Press, Glass House, London (118 Bethnal Green Road, London, E2 6DG). The nearest station is Shoreditch High Street Overground

Price: £6

Please note that Sappho Events welcomes LGBTQIA+ women, trans and non-binary people. x

ABOUT ANDREENA LEEANNE

Andreena writes and performs poetry to come to terms with and speak out about her personal experiences with homelessness, mental health, identity, childhood sexual abuse & the many other challenges she has faced in her life.

By speaking her truth, she hopes to empower and inspire others to speak and write their truth.

It has been 2 years since her debut collection of poems CHARRED a survivor speaks her truth to inspire was published by Team Angelica and a year since CHARRED was shortlisted for a Polari First Book Prize.

Join Andreena as she reads poems from the book and answer your questions during this intimate and special event during Black History Month 2022.

Signed copies of CHARRED will be available to purchase at this event. (Cash and card payments accepted)

Content warning: Some of my poems mention abuse, homelessness and mental health which some people may find upsetting.
